Restoran Siaw Kok Leong Pepper Soup Kajang

When you talk about Kajang food, it is Satay and Pepper Soup. There are quite a number of popular pepper soup restaurants in Kajang especially in Sungai Chua. I have tried most of the pepper soup restaurants in Kajang including this Restoran Siaw Kok Leong.

Restoran Siaw Kok Leong is considered the original pepper soup restaurant in Sungai Chua Kajang. The family business were doing very well until the brothers split up and opened their own restaurants. The other two restaurants are opened nearby with the similar name which is Siaw Kah Pepper Soup Restaurant.

I have been staying in Kajang for couple of years and this is my first visit to Restoran Siaw Kok Leong. Many locals consider this as the first ‘Siaw Kah’ pepper soup restaurant.

The reason I seldom visit Pepper Soup restaurants in Kajang as I don’t eat that much spicy food and it is not that kids friendly. Since the kids now start to learn to eat spicy food, time to explore this Restoran Siaw Kok Leong.

I ordered some of their signature dishes:

Pepper Soup

Fried Chicken Wings with Salted Egg

Cheung Pao Yuk – Spicy Claypot Pork

Thai Style Fish – Tilapia

Pepper Soup is probably one of the best I have tasted so far. The spiciness is spot on and the meat and intestines are tender in texture. The pepper soup is enjoyable and well balance in terms of flavor and spiciness.

Fried Chicken Wings with Salted Egg. The chicken wings are deep fried to perfection but the flavor of the salted egg can be better. Of course, the kids love this.

Cheung Pao Yuk – Spicy Claypot Pork. I love the taste of this spicy claypot pork but some of the meat is slightly overburnt. I don’t mind some char over the meat as I love the spiciness of this dish.

Thai Style Fish – Tilapia. This is a surprise dish as the fish fillet is deep fried to crunchiness and covered with the sweet Thai chili sauce together with slices of onion and cucumber. I really love this Thai style fish and don’t mind coming back again.

Overall, the food prices here are reasonable as we paid below RM 120 for the dinner. The food taste is up to my expectation and I don’t mind coming back for more. Parking can be a challenge but there are always parking spots available if you make a few turns around the area.
