Malaysian Driver Fined for not having Physical Driving License Card in Thailand
A Malaysian driver shared that he was fine by Thailand police traffic recently. He was fine for 500 Thai Baht for not having a valid driving license. The reason for the traffic fine as he was not having the Malaysian driving license physical card. He showed the police officer the digital copy as well as the printed copy but it was consider invalid by the Thai police.
He shared this on a popular Facebook Group as below:
PSA – if you wish or intend to to drive/ride to our neighbourhood country, make sure you have a psyhical card license from RTD, my niece and his friend were summoned by royal police because they don’t have valid psyhical card license.
Those gen Z and alpha said why ‘uncle²’ making fuss abt card…. this is why, don’t be ‘katak bawah tempurung’… be an eye of hawk… we still have paper and pen to write others than gadjet and gizmos
– ps : they also don’t accept printed license from the apps… (my niece printed, they said need a legit issued from RTD)
side note : why must pay rm150 for IDP if you can get free for a psyhical card?
Please take note that Malaysian drivers must possess Malaysian driving license or International Driving License to drive in Thailand. The lesson from this incident is you must have the physical Malaysian Driving License.
