One Ratchada Night Market is Permanently Closed
Here is some news from Bangkok Thailand. I got to know this from my dad, who read the news from a Chinese newspaper daily based in Malaysia. A popular night market in Bangkok is permanently closed and it is the One Ratchada Night Market.
One Ratchada Night Market opened in 2022, the same location with Talad Rod Fai Ratchada which is super convenient as it is back of the Esplanade Shopping Mall and near to the Thailand Cultural Centre MRT Station.
I haven’t been to One Ratchada Night Market and to be honest, the night market is scene for tourists are not as popular as it used to be in my opinion.
In 2016, I spent a week discovering more than 12 night markets but only listed 9 night markets. Out of the 9 night markets I blogged in 2016, only a handful remains and that includes Train Night Market Srinagarindra, Platinum Mall Night Market, Hua Mum Night Market, Asiatique The Riverfront and Palladium Night Market.
The closed night markets are Talad Rod Fai Ratchada, Talad Rod Fai Kaset Nawamin, JJ Green Night Market and Saphan Phun Night Market. Other notable night markets closed within this 10 years include Art Box Night Markets, Neon Fest Night Market, Jodds Fair Dan Neramit Night Market and more.
There are a few types of night markets in Bangkok.
The Train Night Market Srinagarindra and Hua Mum Night Market caters more for locals and hence they survived the pandemic era and still going strong.
The others like Platinum Mall Night Market, Asiatique The Riverfront, Palladium Night Market, Jodds Fair Rama 9 caters for tourists.
From what I read from One Ratchada Night Market Google Reviews, many people loves the night market but complain that the night market is often quiet. There is not enough customers visiting the night market so it is not sustainable.
Bangkok is a fast moving city, there are new things in every year. Late last year, there is the One Bangkok and I wonder what is new this year in Bangkok? But for now, One Ratchada Night Market is Permanently Closed.
