Finally, I am back in Malaysia after spending 8 days in Northeast Thailand. Thank you for all the warm messages during my trip to Thailand, I am very safe as I am quite a distance from the Thailand Cambodia border. However, I did visit the Thailand Cambodia Border in 2023 and please read on for the story.
I was crossing Thailand Cambodia Border of Chongchom border. This was in 2023 and it was a rather quiet and peaceful border. There are a few casinos located near the Cambodian border as it is more like no man’s land.
Of course, you will find Chinese gambling here. Mostly of the guests here are from China while some are probably locals from Thailand or Cambodia.
Crossing Thailand Cambodia Border is quite simple, you just need to fill the Cambodia arrival card and the ‘overtime’ fee when you present the passport at the border. Overtime fee is usually 20 Baht per person.
This Chongchom border has been closed since the conflict started weeks ago. The entire area is consider high risk until further notice.
It was a great experience crossing the Thailand Cambodia border. To be honest, there are families staying at both side of the countries and I hope peace will come soon.
