Yu Ting Trading Sdn Bhd proudly hosted “An Evening with Yu Ting & Chef Martin Yan” at the luxurious Sun Gourmet TRX, marking 68 remarkable years of excellence in a celebration that brought together heritage, innovation, and culinary mastery.

The evening was themed “EngineeringHeritage, Timeless Culinary, and Inheritance” 器食相生,薪火傳承, an enduring legacy that connects the past, inspires the present, and empowers the future.
The prestigious event gathered Yu Ting’s valued business associates, partners, media friends, and distinguished VIP guests. Among those present were the world-class, legendary Master Chef Martin Yan; Chef Sun, the iconic Champion Chef and Founder of Sun Gourmet TRX; Mr. Chong Kam Fai, President of the Selangor & Federal Territory Ku Su Shin Choong Hung Restaurants Association; Mr. Lim Tien Song, Vice President of the Malaysia Tea Association; Dr. Peggy Chong and Lily Chong, Founders and Presidents of World Gourmet; and Mr. Low Kuang Lian, President of the Selangor & Kuala Lumpur Chinaware Merchants Association.
I met Master Chef Martin Yan and Chef Sun in 2009. 16 years ago with Rachel. I showed them the photo and Chef Sun remember the exact year and location of the venue of the event. This time, I retake the photo with Chef Martin Yan and Chef Sun.
The evening commenced with a powerful brand introduction video tracing Yu Ting’s journey across more than eight decades, a story of grit, progress, and unwavering belief. The narrative reflected the philosophy: “机器 是进步,⼈⼯是传承”, machines represent advancement, but true inheritance lives in human hands. At Yu Ting, tools are not merely inherited; values, craftsmanship, and purpose are passed down across generations, driving innovation while remaining grounded in people.
The first keynote address was delivered by the visionary and architect behind the brand’s success, Mr. William Lee, Managing Director of Yu Ting Trading Sdn Bhd. His speech highlighted Yu Ting’s journey, its commitment to innovation, and its people-first philosophy.

This was followed by an inspiring address from Chef Martin Yan, the award-winning culinary icon, global ambassador of Asian cuisine, and a master who has inspired generations across continents. His words reflected wisdom, humility, and the enduring power of passion in the culinary arts.
Chef Martin Yan still healthy and active in the culinary scene around the world. It is great to see him again in Malaysia as he joked that he wanted to save money to buy a house here.
Guests were then treated to an address by one of Malaysia’s greatest culinary trailblazers, Chef Sun, Founder of Sun Gourmet TRX, World Gourmet Ambassador, Honorary Advisor of Modern Art Delicate Culinary Chef, and a highly respected international judge with numerous global accolades. As the mastermind behind the evening’s exquisite menu, Chef Sun shared insights on elevating Asian cuisine onto the world stage while preserving its soul.
The dining experience featured a specially curated menu by the Sun Gourmet team, including standout dishes such as their signature dishes, reflecting the evening’s theme of timeless culinary craftsmanship.
One of the night’s most anticipated highlights was Chef Martin Yan’s iconic Knife Presentation, followed by his Live Cooking Demonstration, where he invited a blogger on stage to cook alongside him, a moment that delighted guests and showcased his trademark energy, skill, and generosity in sharing knowledge.
Another key highlight was “The Legacy, The Future” Talk Show, featuring a distinguished panel comprising Mr. Chong Kam Fai as Moderator, Chef Martin Yan, Mr. William Lee, and Chef Sun. The discussion explored legacy, mentorship, innovation, and the future of the culinary and hospitality industries. Chef Martin Yan shared advice for young aspiring chefs on mastering fundamentals and staying true to passion; Chef Sun spoke on preserving tradition while innovating Asian cuisine for the global stage; and Mr. William Lee outlined Yu Ting Trading’s future direction and its role in shaping Malaysia’s culinary and hospitality ecosystem.
The evening concluded with a heartfelt token of appreciation ceremony, where Mr. William Lee presented mementos to Chef Martin Yan, Chef Sun, Mr. Chong Kam Fai, Mr. Lim Tien Song, Dr. Peggy Chong, and Mr. Low Kuang Lian, in recognition of their invaluable contributions and presence.
