Italian Embassy apologises to Thailand over teenagers behaviour on the BTS

News from Thailand today. The The Italian Embassy in Bangkok has posted a statement on their Facebook, apologised to the Thai public over a group of Italian teenagers filmed behaving badly on the BTS.

The embassy issued the statement on Saturday. It said it deeply regrets the incident and condemns the behaviour shown in the video now circulating on social media. The group were underage students on a school educational trip.

A Thai woman posted a TikTok video @1234aaawry showing the group talking at high volume inside a BTS carriage. She asked them to keep it down. One replied that he was sorry for bringing money to her country. Others laughed and made a gesture widely condemned as racist.

As you can see one of the teenager showed a middle finger while also shouting vulgar words to the lady.

TravellingFox Estate INPSieme, the agency that brought the students to Thailand, issued its own apology to Thai people on Friday.

BTS Skytrain also responded. Under its rules, passengers who make excessive noise face a 500 baht fine, and staff can ask them to leave the system.

Regardless where you come from and where you travel to, be respectful to the locals. As frequent traveller, we visit places to understand and learn local culture, food and be respectful to others.

Class cannot be bought by money and manners are thought from the family.
