The Cellar Signature at One City in collaboration with VCT Group of Wineries Asia was officiated by H.E Rodrigo Perez, Ambassador of Chile to Malaysia, launched the Provinage, the First New World Wine Club in Malaysia at The Cellar Signature’s Grand Opening on 19 Jan 2018 in One City USJ. This is the newest restaurant to open in One City and it offers comfortable dining area, VIP rooms as well as event spaces.
We were invited for the Grand Opening of the Cellar Signature’s Grand Opening with our fellow blogger friends and other VIP guests. The Cellar Signature One City USJ is the latest wine bar & restaurant in Subang Jaya that serves great western cuisine that pair and complement with New World Wines. The 5600 square feet venue present multi-concept dining experience with Parties, Lounge and Sports.
Provinage is a movement to raise the awareness of New World Wine that has been under-rated by the Old World Wine in Malaysia. Many Malaysians tends to think that the Old World Wine is better than the New World Wine but this is not true. Both the New World Wine and Old World Wine are equally good and paired well with fine cuisine. The purpose of the Provinage is to promote the understanding and appreciation of the New World Wine through education and tasting, while developing a social group for people who are interested in the New World Wine.
At the launch, Mr Andy Chan, owner of SKMart, said, “I used to think that French wine is the best but after trying Palo Alto in Cellar Signature, I realized that the New World Wine can be better as the “immediate” taste of the first sip of the wine in my mouth is so overwhelming and so good.”
The Cellar Signature is also the Viña Concha Y Toro’s first official outlet in Asia. Founded in 1883, Viña Concha y Toro has become the largest wine company in Latin America. It is the fifth company in the world in terms of traded volume, and second in area of planted grapevines. It currently has more than 10,800 hectares of vineyards in Chile, Argentina and the United States.
Its wine portfolio includes icons Don Melchor and Almaviva, and its emblematic Casillero del Diablo brand, as well as Trivento wines from Argentina, and Fetzer and Bonterra from California. Its exporting spirit and successful business model has allowed it to grow and be present in 147 countries, becoming the main exporter of Chilean wine. Several awards and recognitions confirm its leading position in the global wine industry, including “World’s Most Powerful Wine Brand” 2014 and 2015 in the ranking of the British consultancy firm Intangible Business, and “International Best Drinks Company of the Year 2015” by The Drinks Business Awards.
In terms of food, the head chef of The Cellar Signature at One City is Chef Kenny Chin. He has a wealth of experience under his belt as he used to work in Mandarin Oriental KL and other 5-star hotels.
In the menu, you can find a list of gastronomical cuisine such as Cream of Trio Wild Mushroom Soup , Volcano Stone Grilled Sirlon, Sous Vide Proscuitto-wrapped Chicken Roulade that pair and complement the New World Wine.
We were the first few guests for the restaurant. Food tasting on the first day of business is always unfair to the restaurant as they need time to adapt to their menu. We had a four course lunch and overall it is better than we expected.
Entree:
Sauteed Shrimp with Watermelon is quite interesting entree. We love the combination of hot and cold for this dish. The watermelon is cold and refreshing while the sauteed shrimp is warm with a bit of salty after taste.
Mains:
Chicken Roulade with Spinach Stuffing & Herbs served with Winter Vegetables looks messy but the taste didn’t disappoint us at all. The chicken roulade is juicy and tasty.
Char-Grilled Ribeye served with Beet Root Puree & Roasted Herbs Potatoes. At first we thought it was over cooked but this was very good. We love the taste of the beef and this goes well with the wine.
Dessert:
A heavy dessert to end the lunch. No one will complain the rich chocolate lava cake for dessert.
Overall, we are impressed with the food at The Cellar Signature. For the first day of business, the food is better than we expected and worth the visit if you are in One City.
On another note, Provinage aims to have one hundred (100) exclusive members by invitation. The club will be organizing monthly wine talks and wine tasting event for the public. Members will have exclusive privileges to wine and dine at the Cellar Signature, hotel room with eCity Hotel and also annual organized trip to the New World Wine Vineyards. Digital 4.0 will also be deployed in the club too where members can share, learn and grow with each other through the Provinage Social Media platform.
On September 2018, Provinage will be organizing the first New World Wine Expo in One City USJ supported by the Embassy of Chile and Chilean Trade Commission in Malaysia. Further details will be announced in 2018.
