Padungan Belachan Bee Hoon at Song Kheng Hai Food Court, Kuching

Padungan Belachan Bee Hoon at Song Kheng Hai Food Court, Kuching

This is another original food from Sarawak, the Belachan bee hoon. Belachan or belacan is a spicy dried shrimp paste that is widely used in Southeast Asia as food ingredient.

Our trip to Kuching brought us to this special delicacy. The famous Padungan Belachan Bee Hoon at Song Kheng Hai Food Court at Stall No. 26.
Belachan Bee Hoon
The Belachan Bee Hoon starts from RM 3.00 (US$ 0.95) per plate. The plate of bee hoon is topped with the Belachan paste with century eggs, cuttlefish, beansprouts and cucumber. Sounds weird for me and it tasted weird for me too! Seriously people, I am never a Belachan kind of guy so this is just way too weird for me. However, this is still a must-try food in Sarawak. It might not suits my taste buds but this is loved my thousands of Sarawakians!
