Well, here in Japan, New Year Day is the biggest celebration day.
Mount Fuji: The beautiful Mount Fuji in winter season.
Most of companies finish year end work on 29 or 30 Dec, and back to work 4 or 5 Jan.
So, many people go back to their home town. Tokyo is very very quiet during this period.
(Actually we have 3 chances like this in a year. Others are early May and mid August.)
We have many New Year’s traditions, too.Wearing Kimono, New year’s visit to a shrine and of course special foods!
I could not help my mother cooking last year (I was working 1st Jan also.), so I went to Tsukiji Market (a big market where all fresh fish coming-in before export to overseas’ Sushi shops) to get good ingredients. There were so many people but it was fun.
The Super Mama-Chari GP 7 Hours Endurance Race / Granny’s Bike Race
On 10th Jan, I will participate “Super Mama-chari GP 7 hours endurance race” (Granny’s bike race) held at Fuji Speedway (F1 circuit), with 10 of my high-school mates.
We participated in this race last year, too. And we were in the 393rd out of about 1000 teams.
It was so cold and hard race but we had so much fun.
(By the way, you don’t have to cycling for 7 hours by yourself. It’s a relay.)
When you get old, it is hard to make a chance to achieve something together with friends and you can feel “we are the same as before”.
We are aiming for getting in the 200s. (out of 1500 teams in this year…)
I want to keep this motivation all year long ! Hahaha!
