The Chicken Island of Krabi, THAILAND

2 min read

The Chicken Island of Krabi

The Chicken Island is the second island of the 4 islands tour in Krabi, Thailand. Krabi is located at the southern west part of Thailand and Phuket Island is within its province. The 4 island tour was inclusive of Tup Island, Chicken Island, Poda Island and Phra Nang Cave. Most of the local tour companies offer this tour. You can join any tour by street of Aonang, rates differs.

It looks like a camel rather than a chicken to me

After visiting the Tub Island, we went to the Chicken Island. There were no chickens on the island and there’s no hero named chicken died on the island. The Chicken Island is named such way due to the shape of rock formation that looks like a head of the rooster. However, I felt it looks like a camel to me. The rock formation can be visibly seen from far.

Crystal clear water, can see to the sea bed from top

Boats park together for snorkeling sessions

Well, that was not the reason we were there, the actual highlight of Chicken Island is to snorkel near the island, the water there is like Tub Island which is crystal clear. The snorkeling gears were provided by tour operator.

Snorkeling time!

An ancient Chinese design ship spotted when I was snorkeling

The Tiger Fish, lots of them

There’s nothing beat the moment of diving in to the cold sea for snorkeling, it was refreshing! Snorkeling around Chicken Island was nothing particular spectacular though, there were lots of tiger fish and there quite a number of sea corals as well. I reckon places like Redang Island has more variety of fish than here. However, the real deal will be on the third and the fourth island. Thanks for reading.

How to get to Chicken Island:
Go to the local tour companies (mostly speaks English) and ask for the 4 islands tour. The tour was inclusive of Tup Island, Chicken Island, Poda Island and Phra Nang Cave. The cheapest rate was around 1,200 baht (around US 40) per person. Travel by speed boat will be more expensive. The rates are based on Dec 2009.

  1. Saw this island while on my way to Phi Phi Island 🙂
don’t have much time to go for this tour as my friends and I had decided to go for Phi Phi excursions 🙂

  2. You really make it appear so easy together with your presentation but I in finding this matter to be actually one thing that I feel I might never understand. It sort of feels too complex and extremely extensive for me. I am looking forward for your subsequent put up, I’ll attempt to get the grasp of it!
