Best Satay in Kuala Lumpur: Queens Hotel, Cheras

I still remember the days when my parents brought me to this place when I was a kid. My parents would tell me how they dated in this little hotel converted restaurant in Cheras. The hotel’s name is Queens Hotel in Peel Road Cheras. The name still remains until today.

Indefinitely, Queens Hotel has been around for at least 30 years. One of their top stall is their satay stall. It is called Suhairi Majid satay. I remember my family would celebrate birthdays or bring our relatives or family friends there. I still remember that how my parents would challenge me to eat as many satay sticks as I could. I was very thin back then.

Nevertheless, after 20 over years I still pattronize this stall. This satay stall still remains my family’s favourites. If not mistaken it is RM 0.70-0.80 per stick (US$ 0.25) now.  They serves beef, mutton and chicken meat. One thing I love about the satay here is it is juicer and the peanut gravy is thicker. Most stalls now have their peanut gravy more waterish due to high cost. Glad they maintain their standard after so many years. To me, they are the best in Kuala Lumpur.

If you plan to go to this place, please do aware this is a very old restaurant so the place doesn’t look clean at all. At most time, you might sit by the roadside. This is real Malaysian street food if you ask me. I plan to go there again with Rachel. Good satay is always enjoyable. They are also available for booking for parties and events.

  1. best place during my childhood. often times go there to taste the satay and mutton soup! the environment at that time is so memorable classic! everything happening around the center of queens hotel! a landmark at that time when KL/klang valley was just covering a small area.

definitely was the best satay even better than in kajang!

  2. There is another which is very good in Kampung Pandan known as “Satay Station” and meat serving per stick is really thick; the gravy is nutty as well.

I would says both are compatible.
