There are plenty of food list of Malaysian food. It is evident that Malaysia is a destination for food on top of eco-tourism, shopping, sight-seeing and as a retirement country. Most of the top food list of Malaysia food is written by foreigners (or non-Chinese) and you can question the facts of such list when prominent Malaysian food like curry mee, Hokkien mee, San Kan Chong and bakuteh is not even in the list. Mind you, food like bakuteh, San Kan Chong and Hokkien mee are created in Malaysia! Recently, Lonely Planet’s the “Food Book” list Penang, Malaysia as the top of the list for #1 Destination for Food.
Kuala Lumpur is the capital of Malaysia and it is located in the middle of Klang Valley. From a modest tin mining town, it transform to one of the top cities in Asia. Hence, one of the founding father of Kuala Lumpur is Yap Ah Loy. Back in the late 18th century, Chinese kapitan Yap Ah loy developed Kuala Lumpur to a commercial tin mining town.
“Development intensified in the 1890s, leading to the creation of a Sanitary Board. The history of Chinese immigrants goes back in centuries and they were mostly involved in trading and mining businesses. Along the way, they brought in their skill, culture and food from their root in China. That’s why some of the Chinese food in KL (Kuala Lumpur) still has traces of its roots from China while some have been modified to local flavour and some are created.

1. Beef Noodle
Even though Malaysia is not a producer of beef but there is beef noodle is popular among the local Chinese. Interesting fact you should know that there is a majority of Chinese in Buddhism/Taoism do not consume beef so selling beef noodle is not an easy task.
The beef noodle usually comes in two varieties, the dry version and the soup version. The dry version usually comes with minced beef and comes with a soup of other parts of beef. Some topped with noodle with chopped spring onion or other type of vegetable.
The soup version is the wholeshebang of the beef in a bowl.

2. Sang Har Mee
I’m not sure about the history or origins of Sang Har Mee (Freshwater prawns noodle cooked with Cantonese style). The cooking of the noodle is similar with Cantonese style but added with hints of Chinese wine.
Getting the right flavour of the paste is difficult and it needed the right balance to do so. There are many Chinese restaurants offer Sang Har Mee but only a few can cook it right!
