Restoran Siu Siu at Robson Heights

This is a recent revisit after I dined at Restoran Siu Siu a few years ago. It is one of the most popular restaurants in Robson Heights and they are often packed with regular customers. They offer Malaysian Chinese cuisine with a few signature dishes of their own.

The restaurant is near Mid Valley and recently I had dinner there with my family. The restaurant didn’t change much with open air concept (non air conditioned) and as usual it was packed.

Char Siew (Caramelized Pork Belly)

The first dish we ordered is their signature char siew. If I am going to do a top ten char siew list, Siu Siu’s char siew should be in that list. It was grilled to perfection and I love they use the “three layer” pork belly. I love the taste and the tenderness of the meat.

Stir Fry Green Dragon Vegetables

Yes, you read it right, it is called the “green dragon” vegetables. It is uncommon but it is tasty. I always enjoy vegetable stir fried in the simplest way.

Signature Soup

The signature soup is called as the “godly soup” is one of the highlight of Siu Siu. However, this time around the taste didn’t impress me as it used to be in my opinion.

Homemade Taufu (Beancurd)

The disappointment continues with their signature homemade taufu. Well, I expect something better from Siu Siu. The taste wasn’t that flattering, chef’s bad day?

Steamed Fish with Minced Ginger

Steamed Fish with Minced Ginger is the best way to enjoy the fish. We enjoyed the fish and the taste. This was good.

Butter Crabs with Deep Fried Bun

Lastly, we have butter crabs with deep fried bun (mantou). This is another let down. Even from the picture you can tell the sauce is diluted and the taste wasn’t there. The crab is fresh for sure but this could be so much better.

Overall, there are hit and misses. It is probably one of the chef’s bad days. This is definitely not the usual Siu Siu’s standard of food.
