Uncle Meng Taman Shamelin Char Siew and Roast Chicken
The last time I went there, Uncle Meng told me not to take the pictures of his food and post it on the Internet because his business was too good. Yesterday, I went to his restaurant again and he didn’t say anything.
The restaurant is still packed and by one clock, the roasted chicken was sold out and left those juicy char siew (caramelized pork belly).
It is no secret that Uncle Meng is popular with its char siew and also roasted chicken. Sometimes, by 12.30pm the char siew is already sold out. I specifically told him I wanted the three layer char siew. In short, give me the best.
Char Siew and Siew Yoke rice.
A simple plate of char siew and siew yoke (roast pork belly) with “oil” rice is more than you can ask for. The siew yoke comes with crackling crunchy skin with tender meat texture while the char siew is grilled to perfection. The char siew is delicious as it is almost melt in your mouth.

Before the hype of Uncle Meng char siew, it is the roast chicken that is popular. The chicken skin is roasted to crispiness and the meat is tender. It is no surprise that both their roast chicken and char siew sold out in just a few hour time.
Uncle Meng opens on Monday to Saturday lunch time only. They usually start selling at 11 am or 11.30 am and it is usually sold out by 1.30pm or 2pm. My advice, be there early and order their famous char siew and siew yoke.
