Rayani Air Malaysia
*Updated 11/4/2016 – The Department of Civil Aviation has suspended the operations of the problematic Rayani Air for three months.
*Updated 20/12/2015 – They start flying today and they are the first syariah compliant airline in the country.
Rayani Air made its presence felt last year by creating lots of buzz as they will be based in Malacca International Airport (Batu Berendam Airport). The new airlines announced that they will start operating from Melaka in 4Q 2014. However, it didn’t start as plan.
Based on its Facebook Page announcement, they are 98% ready to start and they will not be operating from Malacca International Airport. Thus, they will be flying from Kuala Lumpur and there is no indication which airport in Kuala Lumpur. It could be either KLIA2 or Subang International Airport.
Based on the pictures on the Facebook, Rayani Air will fly to destinations such as Kota Bahru, Langkawi, Kuchng and Kota Kinabalu from Kuala Lumpur. Since their office is located in Shah Alam, there is a high possibility they might operate from Subang International Airport.
Some of their selling points are free snacks and meals, extra comfort and good hospitality. They have been recruiting positions such as cabin crews on their Facebook Page.
It is always good news to have a new airline in the country as it will give more competition to the other airlines and travellers will get more competitive air fares. It is good to start flying domestic first before going abroad. The big question now is when can they start and how cheap are their tickets? Can they go lower than big boys like AirAsia and Firefly?
