Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tart Empire Shopping Mall Review
The Japanese baked cheese tart is on in Malaysia. After the entry of Tokyo Secret’s Japanese inspired cheese tart from Hong Kong, there is a new player in town by the name of Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tart.
The humble cheese tart stall is a creation by a local inspired by the Japanese baked cheese tart and it opened a few weeks ago. They are located at LK-01C, Lower Ground, Empire Shopping Gallery and we went there recently to taste is as we are big Japanese cheese tart lovers too.
We were early and there was no queue. The stall already started baking the cheese tarts and we bought a dozen pieces of their cheese tarts.
Their version of Hokkaido baked cheese tart is priced at RM 5.90 per piece and six pieces at RM 29 in a box. It is definitely the cheapest Hokkaido inspired baked cheese tarts in Malaysia so far. Tokyo Secret is selling at RM 7.90 per piece.
How is the taste?
Well, the Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tart has a crumbly crust and also the lighter cheese filling. The texture of the filling is soft but it is lacking the intense cheese flavour like the original Hokkaido baked cheese tarts. It is still enjoyable especially when you never tasted a Hokkaido baked cheese tart before. If you do compare this with other Hokkaido baked cheese tarts, it falls short in terms of the flavour but some people might love the lighter cheese flavour for this. The size of their tart is also slightly smaller compared to others.
Maybe that’s the reason it is the cheapest in the market so far but like we said, this is still enjoyable. With Japan number one fresh baked cheese tart Pablo coming into Malaysia, it will be a baked cheese tart wars in Malaysia.
