Mitsuyado Sei-men The Starling Mall Damansara Utama Malaysia

This story is overdue. We were invited during the opening of this restaurant last month but we were busy traveling in Tasmania and Melbourne before struck with lung infection after that. Since we posted a video of the cheese ramen of Mitsuyado-Sei Men in The Starling Mall Damansara Utama, we have received enquiry about the taste of the food in this restaurant.

Mitsuyado Sei-men is a tsukemen shop from Japan and famous for their cheese tsukemen and yuzu dipping broth. They have a couple of outlets across Asia but this is their first outlet in Malaysia and it is in The Starling Mall Damansara Uptown.

We know you might be wondering, what is tsukemen? Isn’t that Japanese ramen?

What is tsukemen?

Tsukemen is a Japanese ramen dish that consists of ramen (hot or cold) and a separate bowl of broth and soup. The way to eat this is to dip the ramen into the bowl of broth and soup before you enjoy the noodle. The broth or soup works like dipping sauce so this is a different way of enjoying ramen.

Mitsuyado Sei-men is one of the pioneer of tsukemen. What you need to know is they make their own noodles daily using Japan top quality wheat flour. For Japanese, it is all about quality and taste so they only use the finest quality ingredients for their customers.

How to eat Tsukemen. This is how you should do it.

This is something unique you should know about Mitsuyado Sei-men. They offer the ramen in cold or hot. Typically, Malaysians we eat only hot noodles but cold noodles is their specialty. This is something you can look forward at Mitsuyado Sei-men.

Check out that size of their ramen.

Let’s talk about their ramen. The size of the ramen is thick similar to our ‘Hokkien Noodle’. However, the texture of the ramen is different than what you expect. It has the el-dente texture and it is really good. The quality ingredients they used reflects on the texture and taste of the ramen.

They have two flavours for their dipping broth. The Yuzu for the original taste broth and spicy Karashi broth.

What we love about their broth is the immense flavour. The thick broth is made from long hours of cooking of vegetables and pork bones. Since it is made for dipping so the strong flavour is understandable.

The Yuzu broth carries hint of citrus flavour while the Karashi broth comes with more intense flavour with spiciness.

If you having the cheese ramen, pour the cheese on top of the ramen first before you dipped onto the broth.

Mitsuyado Sei-men’s tsukemen is definitely interesting and new to our taste palate. Overall, the tsukemen is very enjoyable. If you are huge fan of ramen, you should drop by at Mitsuyado Sei-men in The Starling Mall for their tsukemen.
