Malaysians Visit to Thailand Hits Records High in 2018

It is a new record for Malaysian tourists visit to Thailand. According to Ministry of Tourism and Sports Thailand, there were 4.1 million Malaysian tourists visit Thailand in 2018. There were 3.35 million Malaysian tourists visit Thailand in 2017. It is an increment of 23% and we are not sure why the picture is showing 17.95% increment. In layman terms, there is at least one out of 10 Malaysians visited Thailand in 2018. We visited Thailand 5 times in 2018.

In 2017 there were a decrease on Malaysian tourists to Thailand due to massive flood in northern Peninsula Malaysia. Thus, there were lesser Malaysians crossing border that year.

In 2018, there were increase flights from Malaysia to Thailand such as Hua Hin Thailand. Bangkok is very popular among Malaysians as well as ‘new’ destinations such as Khao Yai.

In 2019, there will be new direct flights to Chiang Rai and that will probably increase Malaysian tourists to Thailand.

2019 will be exciting year to visit Thailand as there are more destinations to venture such as Betong and probably a revisit to Pattaya. Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai is one of our favourite destinations to visit during end of the year and early of the year and not forgetting festivals such as Songkran and Loy Krathong.

With Tourism Authority of Thailand Malaysia Director Kun Ahman.

Congratulations to the Tourism Authority of Thailand Malaysia for achieving this milestone. This is pure hard work from the Tourism Authority of Thailand Malaysia team in 2018.
