Matta Fair March 2020 Postponed
This is announced today by The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Fair, which was set to be held in March set to be postponed to May. Matta Fair was scheduled for March 13-15 at PWTC will be postponed due to the current situation.
MATTA president Datuk Tan Kok Liang said that the management committee has decided to tentatively postpone the fair to May 1 to 3 at the Putra World Trade Centre, pending confirmation based on venue availability.
He added that the decision came after “extensive consultation with key partners, sponsors and NTOs (national tourism organisations) with written requests and feedback from participating MATTA members”.
As a gesture of goodwill and to reward members for their ongoing support, the management committee has decided to offer a 30% discount of booth rental charges to all participating active MATTA members.
“MATTA places great importance on
the safety and wellbeing of all its members, trade partners and consumers, and
we hope that the situation will normalise soon.
“In the meantime, MATTA will be working very closely with industry partners, particularly the airlines and hotels to create greater opportunities for participating members in preparation for the upcoming Fair.
“We express our concern and sympathy for the people of China, and we hope that they will be able to overcome this crisis quickly,” he said in a statement on Thursday.
It is right move for MATTA to postpone the MATTA Fair on a later date in May. It has been challenging for travel agencies this year with the corona virus as China inbound and outbound group travels have been suspended until further notice.
Yesterday, Macao announced that they will closing all the casinos for 15 days starting today.
We hope to see everyone at MATTA Fair in May if we are around and we pray for Wuhan China and all the people and countries affected by the corona virus. Keep and stay positive!
