Shell Out Seafood Restaurant Publika

Shell Out Seafood Restaurant started in 2013 at their first outlet in Kota Damansara and it was an instant hit. The concept of seafood in a basket is new to Malaysia but it has been around for decades in Louisiana United States. We blogged about the Louisiana boil restaurant in Los Angeles as recommended by our brother staying there nine years ago, read at The Boiling Crab Alhambra Main: Seafood in the Basket and the Whole Shebang!

Shell Out brought in the concept of seafood in the basket but they localised the flavour. Instead of boiling the seafood in the basket, they deep fried it and cooked it with their own sauces. There are many ‘similar’ restaurants copying the Shell Out concept but not many of them had the success story.

We went to the Shell Out Seafood Restaurant Publika outlet and we ordered the Seafood Combo C (4-5 pax) RM 476.90. For the sauce, we ordered Shell Bang sauce which is the fuse of Lemon Pepper and Butter Garlic. The Seafood Combo C is good for 4-5 Pax and the following are the food including the combo.

We ordered the Seafood Combo with Shell Bang sauce as we were there with our boys. The set included the Sweet Potato Fries and Fried Chicken Wings and our boys loved it.

For those who never visited Shell Out concept, the table will be covered with a huge paper and you have to wear plastic glove so it is easier to eat with hands.

The seafood combo is quite huge in portion as the waiter started to pour the seafood onto the table. The seafood is deep fried and cooked together with the sauce and thus every single piece is immense with the sauce.

Most of the seafood is lightly battered, deep fried and cooked with the sauce. The seafood is fresh and you can’t go wrong with deep fried food. There is no complain on the food but it will be better with more sauce, as they were a bit stingy on that. Is it worth it or not, it depends on how you look at it.
