Time to blog about one of the most popular fried chicken places in Kuala Lumpur. This is the Winner’s Fried Chicken or some called it the sei ngan chai (four eyes) fried chicken located at Pudu Glutton Street or Wai Sek Kai. We went to Pudu Winners Fried Chicken before FMCO and it was long queue.
The Pudu Winners Fried Chicken has been around for decades. They open at 3.30 pm till 11.30 pm daily (non FMCO) at Pudu glutton street which is at Jalan Sayur Off Jalan Pudu.
During dinner time, don’t be surprised by the long queue. Some they order for dine in while some for take away.
We don’t really come here often as we are staying far from here but we do notice something interesting. Their fried chicken prices and it is really reasonable. Chicken wing at RM 2.80, other fried chicken at RM 3.50 and large fried chicken thigh at RM 5.50 while French fries at RM 2.00.
To be honest, the usual rate for fried chicken is at RM 4 and above. The coffee shop near my house is selling at RM 5 while thigh is at RM 8 or more. Their food prices are reasonable and they use fresh chicken for the fried chicken rather than frozen chicken.
They deep fried their chicken on the spot and hence the queue is long. What you get is warm, crispy chicken with tender meat. The chicken is well marinated and not forgetting their crispy fries too.
This is comfort food and their fried chicken can give Kepci a run for money. Chicken is well marinated and season, crispy skin, tender meat and value for money, what you need anymore?
The issue with Pudu Winners fried chicken is it is roadside it is not so hygienic but we are okay. We grow up with street food but the long queue can be a deterrent.
This is Pudu Winners Fried Chicken at Wai Sek Kai and do remember there are many other good food stalls too such as the char kuey teow, stir fried radish cake, porridge and more!
