KC and Co Plaza Arkadia Peranakan Food
This is one of the few occasions that we visited Plaza Arkadia at Desa Park City. We were invited for the opening of KC and Co, a new Peranakan Food restaurant at Plaza Arkadia. This was a few months ago and after clearing all my back logs, let’s talk about our food experience at KC and Co Plaza Acradia.
KC and Co located at A-G-6, Plaza Arkadia (corner lot). You can easily spot the Peranakan paintings on the wall with tall ceiling and there are tables indoor and outdoor.
For those who wants some privacy, you can book the private area on the hidden upper floor for small group events or VIPs. We had our lunch at the private area with air condition.
KC & Co is a Modern Peranakan restaurant that is orchestrated by Chef Paul in downtown Malacca that served the cuisine with details, heart, and soul. A glance at their menu, we find some of their Peranakan food unique and different than the usual.
Since it was a casual lunch for my family, we order a few food and one dessert. We do notice that the prices are on the high side due to its location at Plaza Arkadia.
Ngoh Hiang – RM 19
Deep fried prawn and pork roulade with water chestnut, seasoned with five spice powder wrapped in bean curd skin. Their version of ngoh hiang and some will called this lobak comes with crispy bean curd skin, tasty fried prawn and pork roulade and complements well with the chili sauce if you like spicy.
Ayam Buah Keluak – RM 38
Classic nyonya spicy and tangy stew chicken with buah keluak, lengkuas and turmeric infusion. Since we are not very familiar with this classic stew chicken, what we can say the taste is pretty good.
Babi Assam – RM 42
Woodfire grilled pork belly marinated in tamarind juice served with garlic vinaigrette. This is highly recommended by the owner and this is something tasty but different than other Peranakan food. The pork is well grilled and almost melt in the mouth with the acidic sauce, this is a must order at KC and CO.
Chicken Satay – RM 27
Chicken chunks marinated in spices, grilled and served with spicy peanut sauce topped with pineapple quenelle, ketupat, cucumber and red onion.
Each chicken satay is around 90 grams and the chicken texture is soft, meat is well seasoned and this is tasty. What is interesting how they infused the usual peanut sauce or ‘kuah’ with pineapple quenelle that offers a light sweetness taste. This is probably one of the best chicken satay we had for some time.
Buah Keluak Ice Cream – RM 18
Single scoop buah keluak infused ice cream, ginger infused chocolate ganache with chili flakes. Let me be honest with this dessert. This feels like chocolate ice cream with some hints of spiciness from the chili flakes. The chocolate taste overwhelm the taste of the buah keluak but this is very enjoyable.
KC and Co Plaza Arkadia offers Peranakan Food with a twist, something different than the usual. The restaurant is spacious, food is good, service is okay while the pricing is Desa Park City benchmark. The Babi Assam and Chicken Satay is definitely the top of our list and if you are craving for Peranakan food, you can visit KC and Co at Plaza Arkadia.
