Restoran Great China at Pandan Indah Cheras
Restoran Great China at Pandan Indah Cheras
We heard about this restaurant for some time and decided to celebrate our friend’s birthday at this restaurant. This is Restoran Great China at Pandan Indah Cheras. The chef here was previously the head chef from Overseas Restaurant.
Some time ago, we also blogged about another restaurant in Cheras and the chef also ex-chef of Overseas Restaurant and that restaurant is Restoran Buddies Taman Shamelin Perkasa.
Restoran Great China is different from Restoran Buddies. Restoran Great China offers a better ambiance and overall it looks more upscale. The good thing is there are plenty of parking spaces around this area during night time.
The restaurant is popular with their classic Cantonese dishes and the birthday girl reached early so she ordered the food.
Yong Zhou Fried Rice (RM 25)
This is order this for kids but adults loved it too. Simple Yong Zhou fried rice, comes with ‘wok hei’, fragrant and the kids loved it.
Steamed Soon Hock in Soy Sauce – Wild Caught Bamboo Fish in Soy Sauce (RM 364)
The waitress told my friend, they are having some discount for the Soon Hock fish for RM 2xx per kg so she ordered.
This fish is over 1kg and the fish is steam to perfection. The taste of the fish is good, texture is perfect and it is worth the money. This is not expensive fish we had but it is important is the taste reflects the value.
Okra in House Special Sweet and Sour Sauce (RM 30)
Village Chicken Served with Brocolli (RM 80)
Chicken is tender and the taste is pretty good. However, the broccoli looks old though.
Stir Fried Kailan (RM 25)
Braised Sliced Pork Belly with Salted Fish in Claypot (RM 48)
This is their signature dish as I watched a video interviewing the chef as he invented this dish. We love the fragrant and taste of this, it complements well with white rice.
Braised Dry Seafood Claypot (RM 180)
Honestly, we are not the ‘dry seafood’ or hoi mei lover but this is recommended. It comes with dried scallops, sea cucumber, mushroom and fish maw. The quality of the dry seafood here is really good and you can taste it with the texture especially the fish maw and sea cucumber. It is pricey but it is good quality ingredients with great taste.
Overall, the food here is fantastic and food quality is good! The total bill comes to over RM 800 and we will come back again for different menu one day.
