Chinese New Year 2013 Menu at Li Yen Ritz Carlton
The Chinese New Year or Lunar New Year is around the corner, it is on 10th of February and it is one of the most important festivals for Chinese community throughout the world. Most countries in Southeast Asia celebrate Chinese New Year and that includes Malaysia.
As the Lunar New Year is just around the corner, I had the privilege to taste some of the best restaurants in Kuala Lumpur and one of them is Li Yen of Ritz Carlton. I have high expectations from this award winning Chinese restaurant.
Set in a traditional Chinese ambience, Li Yen never lack of comfort and attention from their silver-lining services from their waiters and waitresses.
Let me highlight some of the dishes we tasted. Firstly, the Braised big trotter with dry oyster, and sea moss.
Braised big trotter with dry oyster, and sea moss had the right balance in taste (in my own opinion) and the dry oysters were simply beautiful.
Steamed claypot rice with Chinese waxed meat was next. The rice was fragrantly cooked in the claypot and the Chinese waxed meat is imported from Hong Kong as I was told. Maybe the grass is greener on the other side, the Hong Kong Chinese waxed meat did taste better.
Pan-fried ”Nian Gao”
A quick glance of it, you might mistake this as pan fried carrot cake. Instead, it was pan-fried “nian gao” in disguise. It is the best “nian gao” I had in my life. Cooked with coconut juice, their version of pan-fried “nian gao” is not sticky and addictive. This is a must try dish in Li Yen.
Li Yen Chinese New Year set menu starts from RM 1388++ and it promises great dining experience and good quality food. Call them and give them a buzz to book your table to avoid disappointment.
