Teow Chew Meng SS2 Teochew Cuisine

Teow Chew Meng has been around for years but since I don’t stay in Petaling Jaya, I never visited this restaurant before. That’s the reason why you don’t see me post food in PJ (Petaling Jaya) often.

About a few weeks ago, I went to Teow Chew Meng at SS2 with my family and friends. There are so many good recommendations about this restaurant so we went there for dinner. The restaurant is located at 33 Jalan SS2/30, the same row with Lobsterman (another popular restaurant in SS2) and it is air conditioned.

Oyster Mee

Firstly, Oyster Mee (RM 15). Their version of oyster mee comes with generous amount of large size oysters with thick gravy. Well to be frank I am never a big fan of oyster mee even though I love oysters. Their version is somehow comforting with smooth noodles, large size oysters and thick gravy.

Shark Fins Mee Sua

Shark Fins Mee Sua (RM 12 per pax). Okay, you don’t need to order exactly number of person for their noodles, we order lesser pax portion to try more food. I know when you read shark fins, you probably will be angry but these are vegetarian shark fins. Most likely they are made from gelatin as the shark fins are translucent. Real shark fins come in the shape of fins and those are the ones that we shouldn’t be eating. Again, I am not a big fan of mee sua (rice floor noodle) and I must say they nailed this perfectly.

3 Taste Oyster

3 Taste Oyster (Rm 15). Like their oyster mee, the 3 taste oyster comes with large size of oysters. The three taste oyster is sweet, spicy and sour and that makes this dish unique. It is one of those food that either your love or hate it. You will not complain with those juicy oysters.

Fish Fillet Porridge

Fish Fillet Porridge (RM 15 per pax). What can you say about fish fillet porridge? The porridge and the fish fillet are well cooked. It is nothing spectacular but another comfort food.

Teow Chew Yam Paste with Gingko

Teow Chew Yam Paste with Gingko or it is also known as “or ni” in Hokkien. This is a popular dessert but hard to find because it takes lot of time to make this. The yam is hot but tasty and it goes well with the gingko.

Teow Chew Meng offers traditional and yet enjoyable Teo Chew cuisine that is worth a visit.

  1. yummy! I like the shark fin mee suah without all the greens as I find that even more like the real thing! And its very very delish to eat it with the 3rasa oysters. Love their apple tofu dish too. Very good!
