AFF Suzuki Cup 2014 Semifinal Vietnamese Fans Attacked in Shah Alam
Just came back from AFF Suzuki Cup 2014 Semifinal between Malaysia and Vietnam and the traffic jam after the match was horrendous. Malaysia lost 1-2 to Vietnam in Shah Alam Stadium just now and Malaysia will be playing the 2nd leg in Vietnam soon.
It was an intense game with capacity crowd of 80,000 fans of both countries in the stadium but mainly Malaysians. I was sitting at the upper tier opposite the VIP area and when the match is going to end, the trouble started. The Vietnamese fans were seated together near the Media section.
The Vietnamese fans were squeezed and chased after. I have no idea how it started but they were chased and attacked as I was told later.
Chasing and squeezing in Vietnamese fans section.
Well, there are a few pictures circulating in Facebook and Twitter after the game showing a few Vietnamese fans were injured and some was bleeding. Even Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin was commenting on his Facebook on this incident.
It is sad to see this kind of things happened in a stadium. I feel sorry for the Vietnamese fans as these attackers do not represent the real Malaysia football supporters.
Congratulations to Vietnam for winning the game as they played beautifully and I hope Malaysia Harimau Malaya will do a miracle in Vietnam during the second leg.
There are also firecrackers and flares during and after the game. It is unfortunate that these incidents happened in the football match today.
There are kids and children in the stadium and it was really scary for morons who kept on throwing firecrackers around. It is unsafe for the public.
My friends and I was truly disappointed on some of the incidents happened in the stadium. These bad apples gave a bad name to our football fans and our country. I hope the culprits will be brought to justice.
