Top 8 Food Courts in Bangkok

Food court is a food hall with multiple food stalls and vendors under one roof offering self-service dining. Food courts in Asia can be located indoor or outdoor and they are very popular because the variety of food available. In food courts, you won’t find two same stalls selling the same food except it is a very huge food courts over 50 or 100 stalls. Usually you get a variety of local and “Western” food in food courts. Another plus point for food court is they are fast in serving so you do not need to wait long for your food especially during breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Food courts are extremely popular in Asia and in Bangkok too. Most shopping malls in Bangkok come with at least one food court. There are many shopping malls in Bangkok to start with and so we selected some of the top food courts we visited in the past few years.


Please take note that most of the food courts in Bangkok use the card payment system. You need to purchase the prepaid card at cashier counter and you will be using the card to pay for your food at the food stalls. Any remaining balance will be refunded back to you at cashier counter. The card system is convenient and time saving and it is very common in Thailand.

Most food courts in Thailand offer one or two Halal food stalls.

1.Pier 21 at Terminal 21 Shopping Mall

Terminal 21 Shopping Mall is one of the most unique shopping malls in Bangkok. The shopping mall carries the “airport terminal” theme and each floor represents a city from all around the world. You can floors designed influenced by cities like London and Tokyo.

Thus, shopping mall is strategically located in Sukhumvit beside Sukhumvit BTS Station and walking distance to Asok MRT Station (via Skywalk). Thus, it is located opposite the Westin Grande Hotel.

At the top level (fifth floor) of the shopping mall, you can find Pier 21 Food Court. There is a dedicated lift up to the food court at Ground Level Sukhumvit entrance near the money changer.

Pier 21 Food Court hosts some of best local food in the city and the price of the food here is incredibly low and almost similar to street food price.

We visited the Pier 21 Food Court many times since they opened a few years ago. You can find quality food at street food pricing and there are many good food here. There is also a Halal food stall here.

The reason we love this food court is food here is incredibly tasty and the food prices are cheap. You can get food from 30 Baht and above and please take note this is a shopping mall.

That’s why many locals will always recommend Pier 21 Food Court at Terminal 21 Shopping Mall. The food court is often packed with locals and tourists so it can be crowded at most times.

2.Eathai at Central Embassy

Central Embassy is one of new shopping malls in Bangkok. Opened in 2014, Central Embassy is one of the few luxury shopping malls in Bangkok. The architecture is believed in paying homage to traditional Thai temples the 200m of stunning facade is constructed from shimmering shingles that punctuate the continuous, rippled frontage. Many locals often refer Central Embassy as “hi-so” (high society) shopping mall due to its luxury status.

The mall is strategically located in between Ploenchit and Chidlom BTS station (Bangkok Sky Train). Since it is just a stone throw away from both stations, walking at designated covered pedestrian bridges will take less than five minutes. Eathai is the food court located at the lower ground floor of Central Embassy. You can find the design of this food court bright, cozy and clean. Eathai offers street food, Esan North and South cuisine, desserts and many more.

What we love about this food court is the huge menus boards in Thai and English. Hence, we also love how they show the mock ups of the food so instead of having pictures on the menu, you can see the real food.

Eat Thai is the lux or hi-so version of Thai food court. Most of the food here is priced at 100 Baht and above. You get better service, quality food at slightly higher price. Thus, there is a Halal food available in the food court too. You try the Esan food in this food court.

3.Food Center at Platinum Fashion Mall

Platinum Fashion Mall is the most popular wholesale shopping mall in Bangkok. Located in Pratunam, opposite Amari Watergate Hotel and the Pratunam Wholesale Market, Platinum Fashion Mall is a gigantic six storey shopping complex. In total there are 2224 shops in Platinum Shopping Mall.

On the sixth floor of Platinum Fashion Mall is the Food Center. This is a huge food court with 44 food stalls and lots of tables.

You can find shoppers getting their meals here or resting with their huge shopping bags with drinks or desserts. Most of them are locals and tourists from all over the world. Thus, there are plenty of tables in this food court so you can always find an empty table.

4.Emporium Food Hall

Emporium is the pioneer luxury shopping mall in Bangkok. The mall is opened since 1997 and owned and operated by the Mall Group together with Siam Paragon and Emquartier. Emporium shopping mall is part of the EM District together with the brand new EmQuartier Shopping Mall and the upcoming Emsphere (expected to open in 2017).

Emporium is located on Sukhumvit Road at Sukhumvit Soi 24 next to Queen’s Park and opposite Emquartier Shopping Mall. The Phrom Phong BTS station separates Emporium and Emquartier.


The Emporium Food Hall is located on the fifth floor of Emporium shopping mall. It is another luxury or hi-so (high society) food court carries only the best food stalls in Bangkok. The food prices here are slightly on the high side with most food are priced at 100 Baht and above.

You can find Thai cuisines such as Savoey, a very popular Thai restaurant in Bangkok and other International cuisines such as Arabic, Korean, Indian and Vietnamese.

We love the ambience here and most of the food here are very good. Hence, we loved Savoey very much and great to know they have a food stall here. You can also find boat noodles and other popular Thai food in this food court.

5.The Fifth Food Avenue at MBK Center

MBK Center or Mahboonkrong is one of the largest shopping malls in Bangkok. It was the largest shopping mall in Asia when it opened in 1985 and it is still remains as one of the popular shopping malls in Bangkok.

The eight storeys MBK Center housed around 2,000 shops, restaurants and outlets including the 4 storey Tokyu Departmental Store. Many tourists love to shop here as you can find almost everything here. Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho was spotted buying mobile phone cover in MBK Center a few months ago.

In this shopping mall, there are a few food courts and we are going to feature two of them. The first is the Fifth Food Avenue located on the 5th floor.


Fifth Food Avenue offers International cuisine such as Indonesian, Japanese, Western, Korean and many more. This is the luxury or hi-so (high society) food court in MBK Center and the most of the food prices are at 100 Baht and above.

We like the ambience of this food court. It is very relaxing especially with dim lights and there are quite a number of different International cuisines offered here.

6.Food Island at MBK Center

This is the last food court on our Top 7 Food Courts in Bangkok. The Food Island is also located in MBK Center and it is located on the 6th floor.

Unlike The Fifth Avenue, the Food Island is least publicised and only the locals and regular visitors know its exact location. The Food Island is located a level above The Fifth Avenue and there is an escalator near The Fifth Avenue that leads to the Food Island.

It is fully air conditioned with many tables and seats and it is not as classy as Fifth Food Avenue. The Food Island is bright and it is a typical shopping mall food court with many food stalls.

Most of the food stalls offer authentic Thai cuisine and the food price here is similar to street food pricing. The food prices here are mostly less than 100 Baht except seafood. The Isan food and the beef noodle is a must try.

7.Food Republic at Siam Center

Siam Center was built in 1973 and it is one of Bangkok’s pioneer shopping malls. The Siam Center now has gone thru many renovations and transformations and it has rebranded itself as Siam Center The Ideaopolis.

You can easily spot Siam Center if you are a frequent traveller on BTS. It is located at Siam Tower, Rama 1 Road and next to Siam BTS Station.

Food Republic is a Singapore based food court and they have many outlets in Singapore as well as in Malaysia too. We were surprised to find Food Republic in the busy Siam Center.

Food Republic is located in Siam Center and it offers local Thai and International cuisines. You can find some of the best local Thai food stalls here as well as Singapore food stall such as Sergeant Singapore Hainanese Chicken Rice. The food prices starts from 100 Baht.

We always love their concept of bringing the best food stalls together in their food courts. If you never taste Singapore popular Hainanese Chicken Rice, you can order at Sergeant Singapore food stall. The Hainanese chicken rice might not be the best but it definitely worth trying.

You can find locals and many tourists dining here during peak hours as it is strategically located next to the ever busy Siam BTS Station.

8.Siam Paragon Food Hall

Siam Paragon is one of the biggest shopping mall in Asia and it is located beside Siam Center. It is opened in 2005 and it has a multiplex movie theatre of 15 large theatres, Sea Life Ocean World Aquarium, a Thai Art Gallery and also an opera concert hall.

This is by far the biggest food court we seen in Bangkok and there are many food stalls and restaurants to choose from and there is also a Gourmet Market next to the Food Hall.
