What we like about Macau is they keep on building new attractions and bringing new shows to attract more tourists. The last time we visited Macau was in 2015 and within two years, there are four new hotels in Cotai Strip and plenty of new attractions and shows. One of the show is The House of Magic at Studio City.

For those who didn’t know, the House of Magic is the brainchild of magician Frank Harary.

Who is Franz Harary?

Franz Harary is probably one of the most underrated magicians in Hollywood. He appeared on television shows such as the first episode of NBC’s The World’s Greatest Magic, on which Harary made the Space Shuttle appear to vanish.

Thus, his portfolio including design illusions for are Michael Jackson, N*SYNC, Cher, Snoop Dogg, Tupac Shakur, Tone Loc, Styx, Dr. Dre, Usher, Boyz II Men, Queen Latifah, Hammer, Tina Turner, Reba McEntire and Missy Elliott.

Some of his popular illusions include vanishing the Taj Mahal and the London Bridge, you can easily find those videos on Youtube.

The House of Magic venue cost US$ 40 million with a cast of magicians. This is not any magic shows in Asia, this is Las Vegas style of magic and it is probably the main reason why you must watch The House of Magic.

One of the main reasons Franz Harary started The House of Magic maybe because he wants to be first in Macau. The Cotai Strip is very similar to Las Vegas Strip and there is no huge magic show yet so he wants to be the first to bring the ‘big scale’ magic show to Macau. There is a saying, the early bird gets the worms.

The show starts with loud and fast music. Frank Harary appears inside a space capsule with spinning blades and the first words are ‘ni hao ma’ in Chinese which means how are you?

The majority of the audience is from China and probably I am the one and only one from Malaysia. Since I sit at the first row, I was selected to go up on stage and I was addressed as ‘Mr Facebook’. He did some hands tricks on me and the rest of the show is nothing more but spectacular.

What I like is the machineries, props and sets built for the illusion. These are huge scale big budget props and you get to see a group of dedicated dancers and performers involved in all of the illusions. The interaction between Franz Harary and the crowd makes the show more interesting.

I can say all the illusions by Franz Harary will impressed you. I try not to make the level of expectation too high but you will be more than happy to watch The House of Magic.

Let me be very honest. Other than The House of Dancing Water, The House of Magic is a must watch in Macau. This makes my trip to Macau so worthwhile.
