Nai Mueang Restaurant Khao Lak Michelin Plate Review

Where to eat in Khao Lak? Fancy a restaurant listed in The Michelin Guide Thailand 2019 without breaking a bank? Check out Nai Mueang restaurant in Khao Lak, a popular restaurant offering local cuisine. Thus, they are also awarded for Michelin Plate in The Michelin Guide Thailand 2019.

Khao Lak is a small town located in Phang Nga and it is around 90 mins away from Phuket International Airport. The best way to travel around Phuket and Phang Nga is by renting a car. There are many car rentals in Phuket International Airport and we usually book Thai Rent A Car as it is one of the largest car rental companies in Thailand. They have over 32 branches with over 8000 cars in their fleet.

Nai Mueang Restaurant Khao Lak is the one of the 15 restaurants and street food listed in Michelin Guide Thailand 2019. This is our third restaurant review and there will be 12 more coming. You can check out the full list of restaurants in our special dedicated page at https://www.placesandfoods.com/themichelinguidethailand

Nai Mueang restaurant is located at the inner road off the main road in Khao Lak. You can find them on Google Map easily.

You can easily spot the restaurant with the huge signage outside of the restaurant. This is the most beautiful restaurant we reviewed in Khao Lak and Takua Pa. This restaurant is a must visit for influencers aka Instagrammers. Almost every corner is a pretty spot for OOTD.

You can find many vintage items and antiques in this restaurant and they offer English menu specifically for Michelin Guide Thailand 2019.

We ordered three dishes for lunch and they are Crab with Curry, Fried Pork with Salt and Pepper and Stir Fried Pineapple with Pork with Iced Thai Milk Tea.

Crab with coconut curry with white noodles is the specialty in Phuket and nearby province. This is crab meat cooked with curry with coconut milk (santan) and eat with white noodles. The spicy level depends how spicy you can take. The colour of the curry can turn red if you want it at usual spicy level or orange in colour if less spicy.

The curry is spicy and creamy and it complements well with the white noodles. The vegetables are fresh and refreshing and it helps in reducing the spicy level naturally.

The fried pork with salt and pepper is different that what we thought. The texture is not that crispy but the texture is still tender and it comes with the taste of the spiciness with hints of the salt.

The stir fried pineapples with pork is interesting. You can roughly tell the taste of this dish. Thai pineapple is usually sweet so the taste of the pork is sweet in general with a bit of flavour from the fish sauce. You get the sweet and salty flavour at once for this dish. The kids will enjoy this and this complements well with the white rice.

The iced Thai milk tea comes with two crackers. We would prefer the crackers with the hot Thai milk tea but it works in a way.

The total bill is THB 560 including the drink and taxes. The food is good and we enjoyed the stir fried pineapple with pork and crab with coconut curry with white noodles. This restaurant is a popular restaurant in Khao Lak and most people we met here knows about this place. The food is good for Michelin Plate but not good enough for Michelin Bib Gourmand and we strongly agree on this.

Where do we stay in Khao Lak? We stayed in this new resort called La Vela Khao Lak and it is a beautiful boutique hotel by the beach. You can book via Agoda at https://www.agoda.com/la-vela-khao-lak/hotel/khao-lak-th.html?cid=1538606
