Japan Launches Go To Campaign
A few days ago, the Japanese government announced the “Go To Campaign”. The Go To Campaign will help to fund travel expenses up to 20,000 Yen ($185) per day for traveller going on leisure trip.
The good news is Go To Campaign will offer subsidies to cover half the cost of trips, distributed through a combination of steep discounts and vouchers to be used at nearby restaurants and shops. The bookings must be made through Japanese Travel agencies or directly with hotels or “ryokan” traditional Japanese inns.
Many people talked about this Go To Campaign as if it covers International travellers but in fact, it only applies for domestic travellers.
The following statement is by JNTO official website.

Regarding reports by some news outlets that “The Japanese government is considering a campaign to help foreign tourists visiting Japan by offering support for half of their travel expenses,” please note that the Go to Travel Campaign under consideration by the Japanese government is to stimulate domestic travel demand within Japan after the Covid-19 pandemic and only cover a portion of domestic travel expenses.
We blogged about similar story about Japan travel recently and many people seems to be very excited by the subsidy stories and forgot that most countries are still in lockdown.
We are always looking forward to visit Japan, most likely in the fourth quarter of 2020 when it is safe to travel. We have blogged about this so many times about safe to travel and the traveling risks.
We are travel bloggers that encourages people to travel but please do understand the risk of traveling with COVID-19. Plan now, travel when it is safe to travel. Japan is always there for everyone.
